If you’ve ever been intrigued by the idea of using technology for self-improvement, let me share a recent experience of mine that you might find interesting. Like many people, I’ve taken various personality tests over the years to gain insights into my strengths, weaknesses, overall character, and to figure out which Harry Potter house I’m in – (Go Gryffindor!). One such test is the Big 5 Personality Test, which is easily accessible online and is one of the best available.
Recently, after completing this test, I decided to experiment by integrating the results with artificial intelligence. I received extensive feedback from the test in the form of detailed paragraphs. I fed these outcomes into ChatGPT and instructed it to analyze the data much like an expert psychologist would. I continued to provide information until I was satisfied that the AI had a deep understanding of my personality, traits, and characteristics.
Armed with this analysis, I then posed a challenge to the AI: recommend books that would resonate with my strengths while also helping me improve areas where I needed work. The result was fascinating. Among the suggestions was David McCullough’s “The Wright Brothers.” The rationale behind this recommendation was that the book would emphasize the importance of long-term commitment to a cause and the journey to success through adversity.
Now, as I delve into “The Wright Brothers,” I can genuinely appreciate the AI’s recommendation. The narrative aligns with my entrepreneurial interests, emphasizes perseverance, and also showcases the brilliance of mechanical thinking—an area where I admittedly have room for improvement. The approach has been effective, and once I finish this book, I’ll move on to the next.
For those familiar with my journey, mainly in recruiting tech, you’ll know that my passion lies in using technology to address real-world challenges, particularly personal ones. This experience reinforces my belief in the limitless potential that exists when we combine human introspection with technological innovation. Perhaps I’m still a bit optimistic about how this AI venture will pan out.
With constant advancements in technology, it’s sometimes worth taking a moment to explore how these tools can benefit us on a personal level. Whether it’s honing professional skills, gaining a better understanding of ourselves, or simply seeking book recommendations, the merger of technology and personal development can produce surprising outcomes. It’s all about leveraging the resources at our disposal to create a better tomorrow, continually moving forward, and using all the tools around us to improve.
