Creating a Personal Guide with ChatGPT
I had a pretty entertaining evening yesterday, creating a custom guide in ChatGPT that knows just about everything about me, for better or worse. When the robots take over, I of course want my death to be speedy, so might as well hasten their tactical knowledge.
While I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to everyone or (maybe anyone?) due to privacy concerns (it's kind of insane), here's a rundown of what I did.
I started by creating a custom GPT tailored specifically for my needs. I uploaded a comprehensive set of documents in its memory to achieve this. You're going to laugh when you read this list:
- a detailed blood testing analysis from Function Health
- my resume
- a personality profile from a test I took a long time ago
- descriptions of the companies that I started or am involved with
- my family tree from Ancestry
- text from a quarterly goal-setting exercise from last year
- a professional profile bio
- all my logged exercises from a fitness app called Fitbod
- an export of all my blog posts to help it understand my writing style
- a detailed summary of biomarkers from Apple Health
- a list of my favorite books from the past few years
- a genetic test from Promethease with important health considerations
- a description of my house
- an export of my most contacted people
Then, I gave the GPT clear instructions to act as a personal guide to help me improve in various areas of my life. It turned out pretty well. For example, if I ask it for a motivational quote, it provides one tailored specifically to me. If I inquire about what to eat for breakfast, it gives suggestions that consider my health concerns.
I was driving in the car and asked it verbally to tell me a historical story that would be interesting to me. It told me a story of George Washington Carver, a great inventor and someone who really made it through adversity. He made over 300 products from peanuts. It was a great story and pretty inspiring.
However, it made me hungry for peanuts, which have a suboptimal lipid profile for my cholesterol profile.
So not too bad, ChatGPT. But not perfect.
What amazing times we live in.
